O2 began as a breakaway company in the year 2001 when it seceded from BT wireless. It then rapidly became one of the top companies in the United Kingdom for telephone, mobile phones, videogames, internet and other digital services. Moreover, O2 was a pioneer company in offering broadband services in the UK.
It is part of the superior Telefonica company that extends over the entire Europe. Telefonica bought the Be network in the year 2006 and it later expanded its boundaries to take in even Be network’s service area. This made Telefonica control one of the biggest access areas in the entire United Kingdom up to the present.
