Mobile Broadband Grows

The mobile broadband network is growing exponentially since the 3 G appeared on the market last October.  The levels have actually taken a 14 times increase since March and it looks like things will continue in that vein.  Before, the consumer was a little wary of the 3G network and they were using it for mobile phone calls, however the new device- dongles, has increased the popularity of the 3G market.

Consumers are learning that they can get on the computer or mobile phone with broadband wherever they are and surf the net.  The mobile broadband for laptops is the item being sold in most stores rather than internet packages for mobile phones at the moment.

3G says that Vodafone has seen a surge on data use for the vodaphone mobile broadband network just as they have.  This is because many companies like 3G and Vodafone have been advertising and pushing the new technology in advertisements and in the stores.  This is making the network increase at a faster growth rate.  T- Mobile in the UK is offering 3.6 Mbps on their mobile broadband device where as others are offering 7.2 Mbps.  However, T- mobile will be increasing their speed later in the year and say they will have 14.4 Mbps by the end of 2009.

The talk of the mobile broadband is compelling the industry to grow as more consumers will take on the packages.  However, there is a bit of issue.  The price for the speed is pretty high.  While you are paying for the 7.2 Mbps or 3.6 Mbps from T- Mobile you are actually only getting 1 to 2 Mbps most of the time.

The broadband is being used by so many consumers that the speed is slowing down.  In some cases if you try to use the computer inside you are going to lose the signal completely.  This means that the speed for the price is higher than it should be.  Most of the mobile broadband services are high in price for the monthly commitment for the technology.

There is talk in some places like the US making the broadband signal free.  It is doubtful that this will actually happen, but that is more to the point.  Anyone who has the mobile broadband device can tap into an unsecure network and get on the internet for free.  This is why many networks are requiring a pass word so that those paying for the service will at least get some speed without leeches on the network.

The cost of the mobile broadband is very confusing for most.  The operators may offer a flat rate in some cases, but there is the tax to be concerned about.  Others are offering a rate per pound.  In other words the company looks at how many pages you download a month and then charges you for the megabyte usage. This can get pretty expensive, so while mobile broadband is growing there are some consequences to be on the lookout for.
