Free Mobile Broadband

Mobile Broadband according to some could go really cheap by 2009.  In fact it could be free.  Competition is expanding in the mobile broadband industry to the point that there really is nowhere to grow.  Several companies are offering the mobile broadband devices and phone packages.  However, now there may be a TalkTalk offer of free “home broadband” for home phone deals as well as the mobile broadband device.

The price for the mobile broadband has dropped and it is no longer a luxury to have by few, but a household item to have.  The drops will only affect the home service at the moment.  The public, according to Jessica McArdle from Top 10 Broadband, wants cheap packages that are inclusive.  Vodafone may be the first company to offer this free mobile broadband.  At the moment it is just 15 pounds to get the mobile broadband connection.  This is 65 percent cheaper than the other mobile broadband companies who are at 45 pounds for a two year contract.

The charge on data has decreased from 45 pounds to 3.57 pounds per GB.  With the new offerings the market has exploded for those who want mobile broadband.  Add in the different style of the devices for consumers and you have a hit.  The sticks and dongles are no longer plain vanilla, they are pink and black.  The data cards are replaced by cool looking adaptations for getting on the broadband which is something the fashion conscious teen loves.

T- Mobile and Orange mobile broadband are starting to offer 10 and 15 pound packages.  While the mobile broadband is not yet free it could be very soon.  The changes may increase the price on the mobile devices to counter the loss of income on the actual signal for broadband, but it seems the consumers will most likely go for this offer.

What this might mean for the signal and speed is something to be considered.  Right now the speeds are lower than the advertised dongle.  This is because getting the speed means you have to have the card capability even if the signal strength is not there.  The signal is slowed down by the pages being loaded, such as downloads of music that take up more use of the broadband.  You then couple this with the fact that the networks are being shared by several hundreds of consumers at any given time and the speed will slow.

To get the top speed you have to log on to mobile broadband when no one else is on or at least fewer individuals are on.  This problem could mean that the mobile broadband speeds will slow down even more.  Luckily most of the companies are working to get this problem corrected.  They are now offering 850 to 900 MHz for the signal.  This is stronger than the MHZ offered before which provides more power for those using the mobile broadband.  It might be enough to get the next work to survive the influx of consumers that is sure to happen.
